Stem plants which will grow roots in a matter of weeks

Elodea densa (Now called Egeria densa) is an ideal plant for your pond. It will help with reducing nitrate in your tank and will improve water conditions for your fish.

These plants are stem plants which do not have roots.  Stem plants are on average around 5 to 8 inches in length. This is the most common form of aquatic plant, and once planted in the aquarium will soon grow roots and new leaves assuming correct care and attention is provided.  Simply drop into pond or aquarium and plants will soon grow.  Fast growing species once established.  Ensure tops of plants are within 6 inches of water surface to provide enough light for the species.

Stem plants can be pushed into the aquarium substrate, recommended 2 to 3 inches deep.  If using Gravel then no more coarse than 4mm.  You may need to weight the plants initially to keep them in place.  This can be done with lead weights or ceramic rings, (not included).  These can be purchased separately from our shop if required.

The plants shown in the photo are an example of the densa we ship.  Second photo shows densa in an established tank with enhanced lighting to show what can be achieved.  You can achieve similar colour and growth from the plants you receive, assuming correct care and attention is provided.

You are buying 10 stem plants (no roots).  Each plant will be around 5 to 8 inches in length.  No lead weights or ceramic rings included.

·       Plants are checked before sale and holding tanks are regularly treated but on very rare occasions an odd snail or eggs slip through – we advise checking your plants before adding to the aquarium

·       We only send out plants in a condition that we would be happy to have in our own tanks.

·       On the rare occasion an issue arises with the live plants arriving damaged, we WILL require photographic evidence. We need to be contacted within 24 hours or receipt and photos provided with 48 hours of arrival.  We will not accept issues being raised once the plants are within the buyer aquarium, or after the 48 hour period.

Some species of plants do not have roots - such as elodea densa.  This is expected - they are known as stem plants.  New roots will develop within a few days of planting in the aquarium.

Shrimp Guidelines:
We work with numerous suppliers worldwide and as a legal requirement to enter the UK - the plants have to be safe for the aquarium environment.  They are perfectly safe to be added to fish aquariums.

If keeping shrimp or mollusks of any kind please ensure you follow the below information:

(We cannot be held responsible for any shrimps or snails dying)

Rinse Thoroughly : Carefully rinse all plants before planting them in your aquarium.

Test with One Stem : Introduce a single stem into your aquarium & observe your shrimp. If they begin swimming erratically or display unusual behavior, promptly remove the plants & place them in a separate container with fresh water for 48 hours.

Re-Test After 48 Hours : Reintroduce a stem & monitor your shrimp again. If no adverse behavior is observed, you can gradually add more stems, continuing to observe your shrimp's behaviour.

Plants may require a 7-day soaking period before being added to a shrimp or mollusk aquarium to ensure safety.

Only In vitro plants are 100% shrimp-safe and can be planted immediately without the need for soaking.  These are detailed as such in our shop.  If the plants are not detailed as In Vitro then they cannot be guaranteed shrimp safe species
