10 Jack be Little Pumpkin Seeds
Jack be Little lives up to its name by producing beautiful, small
round orange fruits that make the perfect dish for serving pumpkin
soup in.
This variety produces 7 to 10 fruits per plant that are 3 inches
wide by 2 inches tall.
Rich in colour with the proper pumpkin pleat, the flesh inside has a
firm texture & a lovely sweet flavour.
Perfect for growing in containers & small spaces.
Sow indoors April to June or direct May to early June.
Germination in 10 to 14 days and requires temperatures above
20C (68F).
Sow 1/2 inch deep on the side of the seed & cover with compost,
not flat as it reduces the risk of damping off.
After germination the plants will grow quickly & will need repotting
almost at once.
Harden off before planting outside after all risk of frost.
Matures in 95 days, August through October
Full sun & plenty of water during growing season & avoid splashing
water on the young plants, water around.
Leave plenty of room for these & try not to step on or disturb the vines.
When planting out, create a small mound of soil 6 inches around
& 6 inches tall to create plenty of drainage around your pumpkins.
Once pumpkins are ripe, allow to cure in the sun for a week to harden
the skin before storing in a cool, dry place.
