1x Borneo - family games

At the beginning of the 17th century In the 19th century, the first ships of trading companies set sail. Their destination is the East Indies, because the spice trade is flourishing. But it's not just the competition between trading companies that is getting bigger every day; The disputes over leading positions are also increasing within companies, because leading traders receive the largest share of the profits. Who can best reconcile their own interests and those of the company?
What is it about?
The BORNEO game board shows two areas: three ports with changing goods and four trading companies. The players' traders are located in the trading companies. The order of traders within the company is important when distributing a port's goods, because the traders in the front positions have the larger selection, while the traders in the back positions sometimes even come away empty-handed.
The players need the goods to complete as many valuable orders as possible. In order to influence the distribution of goods according to his wishes, the player can act in both areas of the game board by playing cards from his hand. The cards always show a commodity and - in different frequencies and combinations - the flags of trading companies.
In the trading company, the player challenges a fellow player whose dealer has a better position to duel with cards for his position. If the player places a card in a port, he places a good in the port that will later be distributed and he uses the flags to influence the way in which the goods are distributed. The distribution can be triggered in two ways: 1.) There is a certain number of cards in the port. Then the goods are distributed to all companies. 2.) The cards show a certain number of flags from a society. Then the goods only go to this one company. But the position of the dealers in society always decides who has the first choice... So there's a lot to consider before playing your cards.
BORNEO is the winning title of the 2006 game designers competition on the occasion of the "Comics & Games" in Lucca - one of the oldest international exhibitions for comic books, illustrations and, for several years, also for animated films and games.
The theme of the competition was “Wind and Sails”.
