This composite landing gear was hand-made by my Dad, who started a company that he called RC America, back in the 1990's. He called the composite landing gear he made "SUPERGEAR." The following is directly from the information sheet he wrote for the composite SUPERGEAR:
"Thank you for your interest in the new SUPERGEAR. While we have seen many advances in retracts in the past few years, no one has been able to come up with a significant advance in fixed gear, but not anymore! Those of us who fly the big birds no longer have to find a way to beef up our gear to take the landing loads that occur with a not-so-perfect landing. My new SUPERGEAR can take the abuse and come back for more.
SUPERGEAR has the ability to flex and go back to its original shape, because there are literally miles of glass filaments used in it's construction, and there is no way to do it, except by hand. In addition to retain its original shape, SUPERGEAR has the characteristic that we all like. You will find that it weighs about one-third less than the metal gear it replaces. That is one reason why T.O.C contestants have been using it since 1992. Further, the built-in camber, and toe-in assist greatly in straight takeoff runs.
Thank you for your interest in my products. I know that you will be pleased if you decide to try a SUPERGEAR, and I look forward to hearing from you."
When he passed away, I inherited his estate, and all of the unsold composite SUPERGEAR he made.
