Development Background


Crowded indoor spaces concentrate these aerosols, resulting in a higher risk of exposure and infection. The key criteria of a room's risk of virus infection are the number of people present and the length of stay in a room, not the size of the room. The smaller the room, the higher the risk of infection from high concentration of aerosols. Other than wearing a mask, social distancing, and developing

vaccines over time, society has found itself at a loss in terms of how to further reduce the risk of bacterial and viral infection indoors.

 

In response to this challenge, SMAlux has developed its family of LandCare UVC air sterilization products, and has applied 17 patents worldwide, with a focus on the constant and safe mitigation of airborne bacterial and viral risks posed by indoor environments.

LandCare’s UVC products combine electrostatic filtration and UV-C light sterilization in order to significantly reduce the possibility of bacterial and viral infection, Constantly eliminate infectious aerosols, viruses and bacteria while in the room with people present, reducing the accumulation of infectious aerosols in the indoor air and thus reducing the risk of infection. 

For reference, an average person’s tidal volume, the amount of air exhaled from the lungs, is 25L every 5 minutes. In the medium mode of A/C, the AirletUVC is capable of sterilizing 100L every 5 minutes, making it perfect for small enclosures like cars and small offices.

 The technologies:

  • UV-C Purification: UVC light is scientifically proven to deactivate viruses and kill bacteria by breaking down the molecular bonds of their DNA. An ultra-quiet, dual speed fan feeds air through the device at a rate of 41CFM, easily circulating all of the air in a standard room through the purifier in under an hour.  First, the air is passed through the anionically charged metal grate filter, attracting and capturing positively charged contaminants such as VOCs as small as 0.01 microns.  The air is then passed into the UV-C Leakproof Chamber and exposed to 254mn UV-C light rendering bacteria and viruses harmless at a rate of 99.9%.  Purified and sterilized air is then fed back into the room while UV-C light is safely contained within the UV-C Leakproof Chamber in order to  provide consumers with safe, continuous germicidal protection in the form of a stylish mood light.

Principle of UV sterilization:

There is broad scientific consensus that UV light exposure at the correct dosage can photochemically kill and inactivate up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses by breaking down the strains of their DNA and RNA.  In application, this concept can significantly reduce viral and bacterial exposure, which in turn can mitigate the spread of contagions; however, UV light’s effectiveness varies across the UV spectrum.

UV light’s spectrum ranges from 100 to 300 nm, and is further categorized into UVA (320-400nm), UVB (280-320nm), and UVC (200-280nm).UVC has been proven to have the highest germicidal effectiveness of 99.9% at 254nm.

Damages and Issues

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and send you a replacement.
