These inert ceramic raschig rings are a great high surface area packing for your column. Unlike copper mesh, they will not filter out the sulfides, but that also means that they will last damn near forever. However, they are porous, so if they absorb to much of the tails compounds from the end of a spirits run, you can just bake them to easily vaporize the unwanted compounds. A quantity of 1 equates to a 1L bag, which is about 2.5 Lbs.

While your mileage may vary, as a starting point we typically recommend 2L of raschig rings and 1-2 lb of copper for use in our 2" reflux stills and 3L of raschig rings with 2 lb of copper mesh in our 3" reflux stills.
