Muddlers are an old pattern from the 1930’s, but are still very useful today. They can be used as a wake fly on a floating line to imitate hoppers, crickets etc, or on an intermediate line, using a small split shot close to the eye of the hook to keep it just under the surface to imitate fry, water beetles etc. no matter how they are fished the deer hair head will cause plenty of movement and attraction in the water.
