Fournet & Daum
A wonderful
very rare French 1930 art deco lamp in nickel plated wrought iron. The
forged base was made by Le fer forgé H.F. (H. Fournet) and
holds a precious acid engraved Daum shade. Fournet was the
director of LeferforgeHF in Lyon France and had a huge shop
(wholesale) in iron and bronze household articles alongside a line of high
quality wrought iron lamps and chandeliers. A lamp with almost similar but
simpler base is represented with a Muller shade in both the 1930 and 1933
Fournet catalog.
The lamp has a height of 29 cm (11,4 inches). The
shade has a diameter of 13,2 cm (5,2"). It is signed Daum Nancy France.
The signature is visible on my pictures but in reality the naked eye can not
detect it. With scotch added it shows up though. The forged iron base has
its original nickel plating. It shows it's 90 years old but is in excellent
condition for its age. The lamp is rewired with new cloth covered twisted
cord and has a european E14 socket. For the States Canada
or Japan I will place an American candelabra base socket and US 2-prong
plug.
