The first year of the "Glossy Send-In" series.

From 1983 to 1990, Topps produced similar 40 or 60 card sets of "Collector's Edition All-Star sets". These were only distributed through a Topps promotion and originally available in subsets of 5 to 10 cards. The hobby name, Glossy Send-Ins, relates to the surface finish on the cards and the method they were obtained.

The design for all eight years is the same and generally the year can only be distinguished by the information on the card back. Additionally the border color on the fronts can differentiate these. The border colors used are - yellow in 1983 and 1989; red in1984,1988 and 1990; blue in 1985; green in 1986; and orange in 1987. The player names are below the bottom border in small text.
