This sight word Bingo game is one that I made. I laminated the boards and calling cards for durability! This game is in excellent condition, considering how long I have had it! I used this set, in my kindergarten classroom, during Literacy Centers, to reinforce high-frequency color words. This set is clean and comes from a smoke free home.
This game is for 2-6 players. The set consists of 6 boards and 11 cards that have colored smiley faces on them. To make this game I created a blank grid on my computer. I then made copies of it on cardstock. Next, I printed color words and a set of balloons on labels. I colored in the balloons and attached the labels to the game boards. I then laminated the boards. Each game board is unique, as it has the color words and the balloons in different locations. The balloon space is meant to be a "free" space. The smiley face cards I also made on the computer and colored in with colored pencils. This game does not come with markers, but anything can be used (dried beans, buttons, pennies, etc.).
To play this game, every player is given a board. All children cover their "free" spaces. Before beginning play, it is decided how the game will be won (ex. 4 across, 3 down, 4 corners, middle 6, etc.). The caller then shows the smiley face cards one at a time. Children have to locate the color word on their board that corresponds with the color of the smiley face shown and cover it with a marker. The first player to meet the predetermined way of winning is the winner.
This game would make a wonderful addition to a kindergarten or 1st grade classroom! It would also be great to have in a household with young children! I am hoping to find it a good home.
