Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao (/kəˈmiːlə kəˈbeɪoʊ/; Spanish: [kaˈmila kaˈβeʎo]; born March 3, 1997) is a Cuban-American singer, songwriter and actress. She rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, formed on The X Factor (U.S.) in 2012, signing a joint record deal with Syco Music and Epic Records. While a part of Fifth Harmony, Cabello began to establish herself as a solo artist with the release of the collaborations "I Know What You Did Last Summer" with Shawn Mendes, and "Bad Things" with Machine Gun Kelly, the latter reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 U.S chart. After leaving the group in December 2016, Cabello released several other collaborations, including "Hey Ma" by Pitbull and J Balvin for The Fate of the Furious soundtrack.
Her debut solo single "Crying in the Club" was released in May 2017, and was a moderate success worldwide. Refocusing her sound to Latin-influenced music thereafter, her eponymous debut album (2018) reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart, was well received by critics, and earned platinum status. It contained the lead single "Havana" featuring Young Thug which topped the charts in several countries, including the UK and the U.S, and it's second single "Never Be the Same" which also reached the top ten in several countries. Becoming Cabellos worldwide breakthrough as a solist, former one became the most successful single in 2018, and one of the most successful singles ever. In June 2019, she released the single "Señorita" with Canadian singer Shawn Mendes; the song became a worldwide success, reaching number one in most European countries, as well as becoming her second single as lead artist to top the US Billboard Hot 100. In late 2019, Cabello announced that she was finished working on her sophomore studio album titled Romance.
Cabello has a large following on social media and has amassed billions of streams on streaming platforms. She has won numerous awards throughout her career, including four American Music Awards, one Billboard Music Award, four MTV Music Video Awards, and five MTV Europe Music Awards. She also earned two Grammy Award, three Latin Grammy Award nominations and an Brit Awards nomination. She is involved for helping children around the world, and raising money for charity organizations Save the Children and Children's Health Fund.
