Classic Jazz Vinyl LP on Hindsight Records (HSR-155 LP) spotlighting Jan Garber’s 1946-1947 period and the record label reads 1945-1947.
Jan Garber was billed as “The Idol Of The Airwaves,” and led a big band in the 1930’s that was the epitome of “sweet music.” Garber started with the Garber-David Orchestra with pianist Milton Davis, and eventually took over The Freddie Large Orchestra in 1933. Comparable to Guy Lombardo. Jan shocked fans by switching gears and reorganizing his orchestra into swing band—after being persuaded to make the switch by his pre-teen daughter—eventually returning to his “sweet” sound.
