Zipper may be shortened to exact length - by most any reasonably experienced alteration shop tailor. The length stated was measured from above the top metal, to below the bottom metal - end.

 These particular Scovill zippers, reflect this major brands acquisition of the famous Conmar zipper brand and the transition of Conmar's design elements and/or parts to begin having Scovill branding, on what in this instance appears to otherwise be the Conmar slider head and its pull tab:

 Scovill bought Conmar Products, Corp. Preponderance of online details seem to identify June 16, 1965 as the actual date when the acquisition occurred. Unknown exactly how long it took for inventory to turn over completely to the Scovill branding. In the late 1990s, IDEAL Fastener Corporation acquired the CONMAR Brand, currently "producing historic and vintage zippers"(That is absolutely-not what we are selling here).
