After winning National Player of the Year at the University of Maryland, Joe Smith was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the first pick of the 1995 NBA Draft. Smith played for three seasons in Golden State, earning NBA First Team All-Rookie in his first season, before embarking on a 16-year NBA career with 11 other franchises.
