What a fine piece of early American furniture. High grade mahogany and mahogany veneers as the primary wood. Nicely carved acanthus and water leaves splayed legs terminating in reeding and brass paw feet setting on brass castors. Center post and legs completely hand carved. Finely dovetailed drawer. The form is very elegant and has held its popularity for 200 years as seen in the many reproductions pieces on the market. Condition: One spliced leg repair as shown and other minor repairs to base. Missing drop finials which would have been below drawer fronts. Missing back plate to one of the pulls. The faux side drawer is lacking a pull as seen.
Some veneer repairs, small repair to top and typical wear and tear to a 200 year old piece. (all to be expected for the age) Love the divided drawer. Excellent craftsmanship from a true furniture master. There are no labels.
