Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil 3032 Satin 3062 Matt 3065 Semi-Matt 3044 Raw 3011 Glossy
Combines all the advantages of oils and waxes in one unique product. Osmo Polyx®-Oil is resistant to water and dirt, is very durable and smoothens wood surfaces. In comparison to conventional finishes, the natural vegetable oils and waxes allow for an even colouring and a harmonic, smooth surface result. Easy application – no need for a primer or sanding between coats – saves time and money. It meets the wood's natural demands: It is microporous and does not crack, flake, peel or blister.
Resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water in accordance with DIN 68861-1A (German industrial norm).
When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants (suitable for children's toys as per. EN 71.3 (European norm) and fast to perspiration and saliva in accordance with. DIN 53160 (German industrial norm)).
Recommended use:
Ideal for all wooden floors, solid or plank wood, strip parquet, OSB or cork flooring. Highly recommended for wooden furniture. Also for slate and screed as well as terracotta and other natural (non-glazed) ceramic tiles.
Ingredients:
Based on natural vegetable oils and waxes (sunflower-oil, soyabean-oil, thistle-oil, carnauba-wax, candelilla-wax), paraffine, siccatives (drying agents) and additives. Disaromatised white spirit (benzene-free). This product fulfils EU-Regulation (2004/42/EC) according to the VOC limit value of max. 500 g/l (Cat. A/e (2010).
Preparation:
Wood surface must be clean and dry (moisture content max. 20%). Polyx®-Oil is ready to use, please do no thin, stir well before use.
Clean or lightly sand old microporous finishes, remove old varnish (Osmo Paint Remover or by sanding). Small cracks, larger dents and small holes in the wood can be filled Osmo Woodfiller.
Sand carefully before application starting with a coarse paper – final sanding for flooring P100-150, furniture P180-240. Remove dust etc. thoroughly from the surface before application (vacuum cleaner).
Application:
Apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain with either an Osmo Hand Brush, the Osmo 220mm Floor brush or the Osmo Microfibre Roller, and spread well. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying. Apply a second coat as before. For the renovation of oiled/waxed surfaces, generally only 1 coat is required. This should be applied to a clean and dry surface.
The final surface quality is dependent on the wood's surface structure, we therefore always recommend to test the product on a small sample area before complete application..
Coverage:
1 L = approx. 24 m²
Drying time:
approx. 8-10 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23°C/50%, rel. humidity). Lower temperatures and/or high humidity can increase the drying time.
Note:
Natural oils accentuate the natural colour tone and grain of wood (permanent wet look). A dry Osmo Microfibre Roller can be used, if necessary, to roll out brush marks within 30 min of application.
Cork flooring is highly porous and requires an especially thin application, as a result the drying time is increased (min. 24 hours per coat).
Caution: For cupboards, wardrobes and drawers, only 1 thin coat should be applied with a cloth.
Floors finished with Osmo finishes are easy to clean, remove loose dirt with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. Damp mopping is easy with Osmo Wash and Care, simply add to warm water (slightly moist mop only).
Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner can be used for refreshing the floor surface as required. If a higher level of sheen is desired, and after cleaning and thorough drying, apply the Liquid Wax Cleaner thinly and polish when dry.
For dark hardwoods (such as, Wenge, Teak, Merbau, Jatoba ...) we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin. Trial application is most definitely recommended.
