Pope Benedict XV (LatinBenedictusItalianBenedetto), born Giacomo Paolo Giovanni Battista della Chiesa[a] (21 November 1854 – 22 January 1922), was head of the Catholic Church from 3 September 1914 until his death in 1922. His pontificate was largely overshadowed by World War I and its political, social, and humanitarian consequences in Europe.

Most probably this badge has been issued on his peace plan in 1917 which was very important in WW1, but finally did not succeed.

You can read on the badge: "Benedictus qui venit in nomine domini 1917 "

Also you can see the signature of the Pope under his portrait.

First class quality relic from the Vatican in excellent condition.
