This collage intersects comics, drawing, painting, film, text, and painting. It creates a dialogue between various forms of art in one seamless space. Furthermore it creates dialogue about what can be considered "high art" and "low art." If we feature Batman next to a famous 18th century text, what does that do to the viewer? Does it place both works on equal levels? Does it create a foil, or contrast, between the two? And what happens when the artist's own hand is included in this vast array of text and imagery?

Artist's Bio:

Vee CR (aka: Vincent Bianca Aleksandria Chorabik) (they/them) is a TRANSdisciplinary Artist, Writer, and Scholar. Their practice is tentacular, gathering knowledge from various fields including (but not limited to): Pop Culture, Comics, Cartoons, Video Games, English Literature, Art History, Queer Theory, and Psychology. Moreover, they use a variety of mediums, including: Drawing, Painting, Collage, Installation, Performance, and Writing, to stimulate different cognitive faculties and embodied experiences.

During their graduate studies at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, they developed an aesthetic formula for finding Queer Pleasure. The formula, FUN + PLAY = Queer Pleasure, encourages positive engagement with material that can sometimes be difficult to wrestle with if acts of care aren’t implemented. Vee believes that seriously silly, FUN(ny) + PLAY(sure/ful), Art, Writing, & Education are essential in stimulating diversity, growth, creativity, and enjoyment.

Their practice is currently focused on space and identity. In their thesis project PLAY House: The Art of Finding Queer Pleasure through FUN + PLAY, they express Queer Pain and find Queer Pleasure through self-portraiture, installation, and collaboration. They believe Queering Art in a FUN(ny) + PLAY(sure/ful) way is essential in creating an innovative and inclusive world. Thus, they use FUN + PLAY to facilitate positive engagement with potentially sensitive topics such as systemic oppression that generates Shame, Anxiety, and Depression. Vee’s practice affirms that FUN + PLAY is a successful strategy to reclaim Pride & Joy in one’s marginalized identity and/or experience(s).
