An open “Canadian” style canoe - 16' version.
This 16'
canoe is ideal for those wanting something bigger for a double paddle
for 2 adults and some gear for day trip or weekend camp etc. or
perhaps a day on the water for the kids. It can also be paddled solo. Being the same basic design as our 14' Peasemarsh but at about 2ft longer
and a little wider, it makes for a much more spacious canoe.
With optional built-in buoyancy fore and aft that can be fitted
with small round hatches for storage of valuables etc.
Can be
built in either 4mm or 6mm plywood (6mm is recommended for the bottom) and requires between 25 and 40 hours to
complete.
They go
together quickly and easily and perform well
on the water. Although designed to be paddled while kneeling, seats can be fitted.
If you require a smaller canoe, plans for the 10', 12' and 14' versions are also available.

We can help and advise you with your own project too and even cut it for you.
A lightweight plywood dinghy or canoe makes for an easier and cheaper, boating experience.
In the 8' to 10' range of boats, fibre glass dinghies, moulded plastic canoes and inflatables are all heavy and/or cumbersome. They require trailers to move them about on land and larger powered outboard motors to move them on the water. Some canoes can be carried on a roof rack but are heavy to lift up there and carry to the water.
Our plywood dinghies and canoes are designed to be lightweight, sometimes half the weight. A 10', 12' or 14' plywood canoe can be easily carried on a roof rack and can often be put up there solo as can an 8' dinghy. 10' dinghies and larger canoes will probably need two to move them about more because of size than weight.
Being lightweight, crew distribution is important to keep the boat balanced. They only need small, lightweight outboard motors which also helps to keep costs down.
