Needle Descriptions
 
Beading 
Beading hand sewing needles are very fine, long straight sewing needles with long eyes made from the finest steel wire and are expertly crafted. These hand sewing needles are designed for and are fantastic to use with beads, pearls, sequins and are very useful for threading and stringing pearls.

Milliners\Straw
Milliners needles are sometimes referred to as Straw needles and are traditionally used in hat making. These needles are long with round eyes and are ideal when used in the art of pleating and creating fancy decorative needlework or commonly known as smocking.

Chenille
Chenille sewing needles are large eye needles and are identical to Tapestry or Cross Stitch needle in length and diameter. However, the Chenille point is sharp, rather than blunt, and is used for crewel and ribbon embroidery.

Embroidery
Embroidery sewing needles (aka Crewel Needles) are the same as Sharp Needles with sharp tips. However, they have a long, extra large eye, making threading a lot easier, particularly when using multiple strands of cotton embroidery thread.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery
It is a superb collection of 25 sewing needles including Chenille, Tapestry, Embroidery, and Beading, Milliners, Sharps and Quilting needles, all of which are used in the art of embroidery and embellishing fabrics by using silk ribbons, organza ribbons, beads, sequins, metallic threads, silk threads and stranded cotton

Ball Point Embroidery

Ball Point embroidery needles are a short sewing needle and they have the same diameter as an embroidery needle. However, they have a rounded point. Ball point sewing needles enable the user to embellish pieces of cross stitch or tapestry with beads, sequins and pearls without splitting the fibres of the base canvas. 

Sharp Point Bead Embroidery
Short Beading needles have the same diameters of a regular beading sewing needle but are shorter in length and are specially created for beading in mind. This makes the art of attaching beads and embellishing fabrics and garments with additional embroidery so much quicker and allows the sewing needle to pass through the very finest of beads, bugle beads and sequins and then into the fabric with ease.

Heavy Embroidery
Heavy Embroidery needles are not heavy to use. They are the largest needle of the Embroidery sewing needle family, typically they are used when working with twisted yarn in the art of crewel embroidery, for example yarn embroidery on a chunky heavy knit sweater.
 
Quilting
Quilting sewing needles (aka Betweens Needles) are very short and fine with a round eye. Traditionally, used by tailors and professional sewers, but nowadays commonly used for quilting. The diameter of the needle is the same as a Sharps Needle, except that they are shorter in length, which allows the quilter to create quick and even stitching.


Gold Plated Quilting
Gold Plated Quilting needles are a luxury needle for every fine needle enthusiast, which allows the needle to slip through the fabric beautifully and with ease. Gold plated needles allow less friction and indeed quickens the art of sewing.

Big Eye Quilting
This is a standard Quilting needle with a big eye designed for the ease of threading - a favourite with quilters! This is an essential tool used in quilting.

Sharps
Sharps are mostly commonly used for hand sewing. They have a sharp point and are medium in length (compared to short Quilting Needles). Sharps have a rounded eye, usually large enough to accommodate thread. Size 1 is the longest and thickest, and size 10 is the smallest and thinnest.

Leather
Leather Needles (aka Glovers Needles) are used in all types of leather work including: shoe making/repairs, belts and leather garments. They have a triangular point, which enables them to pierce through tough materials such as leather, suede and vinyl without tearing. Each pack contains 1 needle size 3, 1 needle size 5 and 1 needle size 7.

Knitters
These knitters needles are commonly known as sewing up needles and, as the name suggests, they are used by knitters to sew pieces of work together. 

Tapestry
Tapestry Needles (aka Cross Stitch Needles) are a must have for every crafter and sewer. The rounded blunt tip enables the sewing needle to pass and slip between fabrics and yarns without splitting or tearing the fibres. Use them with wool, embroidery soft cotton and stranded cotton, on Single Point Canvas, Double Point Canvas, Aida and open mesh fabric.

Tapestry Petites
Tapestry Petites are part of the tapestry or cross stitch needle family. These needles have a large eye and a blunt round point, but are shorter in length than the ordinary tapestry needle.

Twin Point Quick Stitch

Yarn Darners
Yarn Darners (sometimes called Short Darners in sizes 14-18) are very long hand sewing needles with long eyes and are ideal for spanning large holes during mending, using yarn or cotton. Sizes 14/18 are known as Wool or Yarn Darners and are commonly used in the art of knitting or crocheting to sew pieces of work together.

Cotton Darners
Short Darners are sometimes referred to as Cotton Darners. They are strong hand sewing needles with sharp points and long threading eyes and are commonly used for mending and darning using cotton and yarn.

Bodkin Set
(2 Needles - one standard Bodkin and one flat type threader)
Sewing Bodkins are flat or round and they have large eyes for threading cords, tapes and elastics. This kit contains a flat tape threader and a sewing bodkin. The sewing bodkin features 2 eyes, therefore, it is classes as 2 sewing needles in 1. The smaller threading eye is ideal for thread and the larger eye is more used for tapes, elastics or yarns.

Easy Threading
Easy Threading Sewing Needles (aka Calyx Eye Needles) have a slotted threading eye at the top for thread to pass through. They are designed for people who have difficult threading ordinary sewing needles.

Plastic Sewing Needles
