“Task Pricing” as I mentioned before if you miss the
manual part of things; then this is the section for you.
This section is for entering any extra tasks that come to mind and the
materials associated with those tasks. I have also found that the Task
Pricing section is a good way to enter change orders in a project. I
start a follow up file on the project and enter the changes and add-ons as
things progress.
“Misc Budgets” is another small extra thrown into the
set.
This section is used to cover the surrounding elements of a job such as: plan
production, permits, water and sewer taps, electric connection fees.
This section is also used for dirt and foundation work.
“Pricing Summary” is exactly that. It’s where everything
comes together: material costs, plans, permits, and fees, labor costs, final pricing
add-on and fees.
And finally the master material list, which you can review and alter at this
point before moving on to print.
“Material Print List” this is the section for printing your
material list.
Simply click the trim list button; reducing the list to only the materials you
are using for this job. And then click the print list button.
Example of how Price Zip Templates work?
I’m going to use the general construction
section included in the General Home Construction, Kitchen, and Bathroom programs
for an example. Answer a very few questions and the General Construction
section will automatically calculate the following and then some. General wall
framing, Frost wall framing, Exterior sheeting and house rap, window door and
cased opening framing, installation and trimming, insulation and vapor barrier,
frame bulkheads, shower benches, niches, sub-floor, drywall installation,
finish and sanding, trimming, caulk and wood fill trim, prime and paint, etc.
etc. The General Construction section does all of this in one section with the
same set of questions. Questions such as: How many linear feet of wall? How
tall is the wall? How thick is the wall? Number of top plates? Stud spacing?
Then answer what materials and/or labor are you providing by a simple (1 for
Yes and Blank for No). Questions such as: Are you providing? Doors? Windows?
Materials? Are you? Framing? Hanging drywall? Finishing drywall? Sanding
drywall? Insulating and vapor barrier? Installing crown? Installing baseboard?
Prime? Paint? As you can see, the Price Zip Construction excel templates will
save you money. And depending on the projects you estimate, the Price Zip
templates could pay for themselves the first time you use them. Happy
Estimating.
