Up for sale is an antique map titled ""THE WORLD On Mercator's Projection".
This Map measures approximately 19 x 21 inches, including the border area. Map is blank of the reverse side. The Map is on very thin tissue paper and is very fragile.
The Map is from Volume I of "M'Culloch's Universal Gazetter, A Dictionary, Geographical, Statistical, and Historical, of the various Countries, Places, and Principal Natural Objects In The World. By J. R. M'Culloch, Esq. and Daniel Haskel, A.M.
Published in 1843 by Harper & Brothers, New York. The map was engraved by Charles Copley.
Map is generally in Good condition. There are several creases in the map, where it has been folded within the book. The map has wear, browning, and some foxing. The right edge is torn from the top to the bottom, and the border portion is missing - however, it does not affect the actual map. There is a tear from the middle crease on the right edge that extends about 2 inches into the map. Heavier foxing/browning along the top edge. A brown stain on the bottom left edge - again, it does not affect the map. Several small tears or nicks around the edges. There are other dings here and there, as well.
Please note that while I have included pictures of the Title Page of the "Dictionary" that this map was taken from, it is NOT included in the sale, as it is a reference piece to determine authenticity for the other maps. I would be happy to include a copy if requested.
This is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It is a great piece of history and would look wonderful matted and framed!
This map will ship flat, so please note shipping prices.
