Increased Value Capacitor assemblies to replace Capacitor Technologies' 50/80 V dual capacitors in CARVER M-1.5, M-1.5T, PM-1.5 and PM-1200 amplifiers. These assemblies have been custom designed for Carver M-1.5 series amplifiers, and feature low ESR design, long life, compact size and precision-aligned pins for high performance and ease of installation.

For increased lifetime, the assemblies use increased voltage capacitors. For improved performance, the value of the low rail capacitors has been increased by over 100% (to 4,700 uF) for improved clarity and bass response. Larger value capacitors became a standard on Carver M-4.0 and TFM-45 amps--later versions based on the Carver M-1.5 design.

The original Capacitor Technologies' 50/80 V capacitors tend to be very failure-prone--the Achille's heel of an otherwise superb amplifier. A bad filter cap can cause a low- to mid- frequency hum or distortion in the outputs. A failed capacitor can also put the amp in protection mode. Generally, a bad filter cap will affect both channels equally. Many people replace the Capacitor Technolgies' parts as a preventative measure.

The assemblies are brand new and will be shipped in protective packaging. The listing is for the capacitor assemblies only, not the complete amplifier.

The capacitors can be replaced by a person with intermediate to advanced soldering skills. A soldering iron, solder wick and solder are needed to replace the part. When you're done soldering, wash your hands because solder contains lead. Please note that replacing the capacitors will fix the amplifier only if the capacitors were the problem to start with!

STRONG WARNING!!! Carver amplifiers have high voltages of 120 VAC and +/- 125 VDC present during operation. They have capacitors that can store potentially deadly charges for over one minute after power is disconnected from the amplifier. Repairs to be made by qualified service personnel. We do not want you to get hurt, and we don't want you to hack up these classic amps!!!
