The front pastedown bears, by way of provenance, a statement from the descendant of Private Frederick Kirk (21770) K.O.Y.L.I.
His MIC also puts F. Kirk In France during WW1
Approximately 9cm by 13.3cm by 3.8cm thick.
xx, 928 gilt edged pages with an illustrated frontis, title page and two further illustrated plates within the text.
Fully bound with no loss of text.
Text block is in a good general condition, foxing is light, a little more concentrated at the beginning and end.
First blank endpaper has been removed.
The metal edged leather bindings are generally very good however there are some faults.
The lower front hinge has a 5cm crack.
The metal edge has split just below one side of the clasp hinge and has lifted away from the book edge slightly.
The clasp works but is not very secure.
The leather/binding is firm and solid.
