This is a RARE, non-for-sale (非売品) bonus item — never sold as a standalone product. It was created exclusively as a pre-order bonus for Shirato Sanpei's "Kamui Den Zenshu" (Complete Kamui Legend, 38 volumes, deluxe edition) published by Shogakukan.
"Kamui Den" (The Legend of Kamui) is a landmark work of Japanese manga and one of the most influential ninja (shinobi) stories ever told — a gekiga masterpiece following Kamui, a ninja who breaks free from his clan, alongside sweeping social and historical themes of feudal Japan. The series is considered essential reading in the history of Japanese manga and a foundational work in the ninja genre.
This set of 3 guinomi (sake cups) is hand-crafted stoneware pottery (陶器, sueki-style) featuring engraved illustrations of Kamui, a giant salamander, and a crested kingfisher — all iconic imagery from the series.
The cups were made by ceramic artist Sato Kei (b. 1948), a Gunma-based potter who trained under Kawai Takeichi and has dedicated his career to sueki-style pottery, with exhibitions at Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Ginza Komatsu, and the Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition, among others.
Brand new, unused, dead stock condition. Comes in the original box.
