Vintage Japanese Natural Whetstone (JNAT) Koppa 5-Piece Set

Rare vintage Japanese natural finishing whetstones from Kyoto, Japan.

This is an unused old-stock set that was stored for many years in a warehouse belonging to the seller’s family, who were previously involved in the trade.

The stones retain beautiful traditional Japanese inscriptions, including Shohonyama (正本山) and Tokusen (特撰) markings. Original vintage boxes and labels are also included as shown in the photographs.

Set: 5 small natural whetstones

Colors: Red/Brown, Yellow and Asagi/Gray tones

Approx. size: Largest pieces approx. 5–8 cm; smallest approx. 4–4.5 cm

Thickness: Approx. 13–25 mm

Hardness: Medium-hard to hard

Condition: Unused / vintage new old stock

These fine natural finishing stones may be suitable for Japanese knives, razors, chisels, carving tools and other edged tools, depending on the individual stone.

As these are natural stones and vintage old-stock items, they may have natural lines, small chips, scratches, stains or other characteristics. Please carefully examine all photographs.

The exact mine, geological layer, grit equivalent and age have not been independently verified unless specifically stated.
