A charming hand-operated wooden automaton based on the well-known “Barking Dog” design associated with British automata artist Paul Spooner.
When the side handle is turned, the wooden mechanism comes to life: the dog’s mouth opens and closes while its tail rotates, creating a humorous barking-dog action.
Paul Spooner is internationally known for his imaginative mechanical sculptures and automata. In 1986, Spooner and automata maker Matt Smith established the Fourteen Balls Toy Co. in Cornwall, England.
