Vermilion-Lacquered Brass Kiseru (Oiran-Style) – Length: Approx. 23 cm (9.1 inches)
This is a vintage brass *kiseru* (Japanese pipe) that has been restored, cleaned, and re-polished. The bamboo stem (*rau*) has been replaced and finished with multiple coats of vermilion lacquer (Cashew lacquer).
The contrast between the vibrant vermilion lacquer and the gleaming brass creates a stunning visual effect.
It serves beautifully as an interior decoration or a prop, but it is also fully functional for actual smoking.
As the metal parts are vintage, some minor scratches remain despite the re-polishing; we hope you will appreciate these as part of the item's history and character.
The joint between the metal and bamboo is intentionally left unglued; please apply adhesive yourself if you intend to use the pipe in a way that involves vigorous movement (such as swinging it).
Although it has been refurbished, the item is originally vintage, so we ask that it be purchased by someone who appreciates antiques.
*Note: The dish and pipe stand shown in the images are not included.
