An original real photo postcard published by J Welch & Sons (JWS)

a scene at Portsmouth Town Hall with a large banner inviting men to 'Join the 2nd Portsmouth Battalion' above a banner with a message from the King.

This event took place at a 'War Anniversary' meeting on 4th August 1915. The caption also reads '100,000 Cheer the King', but I think Mr Welch the photographer probably got a bit carried away assessing the number of people in the Guildhall Square that day!

A super WW1 Portsmouth card

In very good overall condition.
