Summary

A pair of Gucci Trademark sterling silver cufflinks, made in Italy with solid rectangular ingot style heads and swivel fittings. Marked Gucci Made in Italy, 925 and *1561 FI, with additional Swiss St. Bernard assay marks.

Description

A vintage pair of Gucci sterling silver cufflinks dating to around the early 2000s, from the Trademark range.

Each cufflink has a solid rectangular slab form head with softly bevelled edges. The polished front is engraved with the registered trademark symbol above GUCCI and MADE IN ITALY below, giving the design a clean sophisticated look.

They are fitted with traditional swivel bar toggles, allowing them to pass easily through a double cuff before rotating into position.

The posts carry several interesting manufacturing and assay marks. These include 925 for sterling silver and the Italian registration mark *1561 FI. possibly for Gucci's own workshops.

The cufflinks also carry the Swiss St. Bernard dog's head hallmark. This is Switzerland's official precious metal control mark and indicates that the pieces were submitted to Swiss control in addition to their Italian manufacture. This shows the cufflinks were intended for international markets and went through Gucci's international hub in Switzerland before distribution to the final market.

At 25.6 grams for the pair, they are significantly heavy for cufflinks.

No original Gucci packaging is included.

Condition

Good pre owned condition with light surface wear consistent with normal use.

The engraved branding remains clear and both swivel fittings operate correctly.
