A very attractive 1888 Victorian halfpenny, with strong detail and a pleasing overall appearance.

Grade: EF (my assessment)

I would assess this coin as EF (Extremely Fine), although grading is subjective, so please study the photographs carefully and make your own assessment.

The coin retains strong detail to both the obverse and reverse, including good definition to Queen Victoria’s portrait, Britannia, the shield and the surrounding lettering. The date is clear and well defined.

The coin has an attractive natural aged bronze/brown colour, with pleasing tonal variation across the surfaces. There are some minor signs of circulation and surface marks consistent with an old circulated bronze coin, but no obvious major damage is apparent from the photographs.

A very nice example for a collector of Victorian halfpennies or a British halfpenny date run.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and allow you to make your own assessment of the coin’s condition and grade.

Grade stated is my personal assessment only. Buyers should satisfy themselves as to condition and grade from the photographs.
