A striking and densely worked Murano art glass vase, dating to the mid-20th century, showcasing a rich cobalt blue ground infused with an exceptional concentration of multicoloured millefiori murrine canes. The surface is built from tightly packed slices of pre-formed glass canes, each revealing intricate floral, star and abstract motifs in vivid tones of red, yellow, white, green and turquoise, creating a vibrant, almost mosaic-like field of colour.

Unlike lighter millefiori decoration, this example demonstrates a heavier “tutti-frutti” style application, where the murrine are closely fused and encased within the body of the glass rather than simply applied to the surface. The result is a deep, immersive effect, with layers of pattern suspended within the cobalt ground, giving real visual depth and movement as the light shifts across it.

The form is simple and well judged, with a gently tapering body rising to a slightly flared rim, allowing the decoration to take centre stage. The rim is cleanly finished, and the base shows a polished pontil, consistent with hand-blown Murano production. The walls are thick and substantial, giving the piece a satisfying weight and presence.

The interior retains a strong blue casing, adding contrast and reinforcing the quality of the glassmaking. Condition is very good, with only light age-related wear to the base and no obvious chips or cracks, the surface remaining bright and glossy throughout.

A bold and decorative mid-century Murano piece, combining technical skill with visual impact, and equally suited as a standalone display object or functional vase.
