The Sd Kfz 247 was based on the chassis of the rugged Krupp Protze L2H143 6x4 truck with Krupp building 10 Ausf A models in 1937. The Sd Kfz 247 was powered by a 4 cylinder air-cooled 3.5litre petrol engine producing 65bhp and a top speed of 43mph (70kph) with a range of 220miles (350km). Cross country performance was not great and drivers were generally advised to stick to roads and tracks.

The Sd Kfz 247 was open topped with a thin armoured body capable of resisting 7.92mm armour piercing bullets. Oddly it was not initially fitted with radio equipment. However, later versions were retro fitted with star shaped radio antenna.

Daimler Benz developed the Ausf B as a 4 wheel armoured car between 1941 and 1942 based on the Horch 4x4 heavy car chassis. It was powered by a front mounted, 8-cylinder, 3,823cc Horch 3.5 petrol engine giving it a maximum speed of 50mph and a range of 250miles. Only 58 Ausf B were produced.

Whether for wargaming or just building for display this brand new kit is a beauty. Not to be missed.
