Extra Information:
This Brock's Golem originates from the Japanese-exclusive Nivi City Gym Theme Deck released on April 26, 1998.
The complete Japanese deck name is ニビシティジム タケシ, or Nibi City Gym Takeshi, referring to Brock by his Japanese name, Takeshi.
Nivi City Gym was one of the original Japanese Gym Leader-focused Pokemon Card Game decks and complements the Leaders' Stadium expansion.
The deck contained 64 fixed cards rather than the conventional 60-card configuration used by many standard decks.
Only one copy of Brock's Golem was included in the original Nivi City Gym deck.
Unlike cards pulled from standard Japanese booster expansions, cards originating from this fixed theme deck were issued without conventional rarity symbols.
For collector clarity, the absence of a rarity symbol on this card is a normal characteristic of the Nivi City Gym deck printing.
It should not be confused with the famous Japanese Base Set "No Rarity" variants, where the missing rarity symbol identifies an early print run of cards that were subsequently issued with rarity symbols.
The prominent No.076 printed on this card represents Golem's National Pokedex number rather than a conventional collector number.
This version features Brock's Golem at LV.40 with 90 HP and evolves from Brock's Graveler.
Its first attack, Rock Slide, deals 20 damage to the Defending Pokemon and can simultaneously deal 10 damage to as many as three opposing Benched Pokemon without applying Weakness or Resistance to those Benched targets.
Its second attack, Fissure, deals a straightforward 50 damage.
Brock's Golem also carries an unusually heavy retreat cost of four Colorless Energy, reflecting Golem's massive and heavily armored design.
The artwork is by Ken Sugimori, original Pokemon character designer and one of the defining artists associated with the earliest Pokemon games and trading cards.
This Nivi City Gym printing represents the card's early Japanese deck release.
The card was subsequently reprinted in Japan's Leaders' Stadium expansion, where it received a conventional rarity designation.
It was later released internationally as Brock's Golem 20/132, a Rare card in the English Gym Heroes expansion.
The Gym-era Pokemon cards are distinctive because they associate individual Pokemon directly with named Kanto Gym Leaders rather than presenting only standard species cards.
Brock's Golem fits naturally within that theme because Brock specializes in Rock-type Pokemon in the original games, while the early Pokemon TCG represents Golem as a Fighting-type card.
Brock's Golem forms the final stage of the Brock's Geodude, Brock's Graveler, and Brock's Golem evolution line represented across the Japanese Gym-era releases.
Golem itself is one of the original 151 Generation I Pokemon and evolves from Graveler, making this card appealing to both Brock-focused collectors and collectors assembling vintage Geodude evolution lines.
As an original 1998 Japanese printing, this card retains the classic Japanese old-back design used during the early years of the Pokemon Card Game.
The combination of its Japanese-exclusive theme-deck origin, Brock ownership, Ken Sugimori artwork, no-rarity deck presentation, original 151 status, and Japanese old-back design makes this a distinctive vintage Gym-era card.
A strong vintage piece for Brock collectors, Golem collectors, Geodude and Graveler evolution-line collectors, Generation I collectors, original 151 collectors, Japanese Gym collectors, Nivi City Gym collectors, Gym Heroes collectors, Japanese Theme Deck collectors, Ken Sugimori artwork collectors, Fighting Pokemon collectors, no-rarity deck card collectors, Japanese old-back collectors, 1998 Pokemon collectors, vintage Pokemon Card Game collectors, and early Japanese Pokemon TCG collectors.
