You're bidding on a cool, unusual piece - a fountain pen and ink stand manufactured by L. C. Balfour per the label on the bottom - but it's also a trophy. Plaque on the front says "Musical Group 1st - 1958", and the top side has the emblem of the Strategic Air Command - the arm of the U.S. Air Force dedicated to intelligence, reconnaissance and nuclear strike capability throughout the Cold War.

The base appears to be marble, striated with brown and white - 7 1/2" X 3 1/8" and about 1" thick. Felted on the bottom and inside a round hole on the top for placement of an inkwell. Opposite side has a black plastic pen holder attached to a brass ball joint. Central motif is an ancient Olympian, raising the olive wreath of victory.

Note some issues of condition - mainly, the figure has a spotty patina - he appears to have been chrome or silver plated. Not sure if it's plate loss or if its just heavily tarnished and the bright parts are where some of the lacquer still remains. Some soil/spotting on the top of the base, and a few small dings to there marble on the top base edge. SOLD AS IS AS FOUND.
