Highly collectible, vintage "Dodgem Car" (or Bumper Car) novelty ceramic teapot originally produced by The Silver Crane Company. It was designed by artist Les Rayner in the early 1980s. The blonde driver operating the fairground bumper car is widely thought to represent Alice from Alice in Wonderland. This design belongs to a highly sought after 1950s inspired novelty collection that also featured a "Rocker on a motorbike" (often called the Elvis teapot) and a "Dragster Hot Rod".
The front bumper of the car serves as the pouring spout, while the rear handle acts as the main teapot handle. The Silver Crane Company stopped manufacturing novelty teapots in 1990. Original pieces from the era are considered rare and quite valuable to collectors.
Measuring approx 29cms long and 12.5cms wide and 14cms tall weighing in at 943 grams
As with all vintage items, you may see signs of use so please examine the photos very carefully and if you have any concerns just send a message. I cannot see any chips or cracks, but there is something stuck to the silver either side. I don't want to try to clean it off in case I cause damage (see photos 8 and 9).
