A beautiful group of 17 old Baltic amber beads from Morocco, traditionally used in North African Berber jewellery.
The beads are individually hand-cut and vary considerably in shape, size and colour, ranging from warm honey and golden amber to deep cognac and brown tones.
Their irregular forms, old surface, wear and patina give the group a wonderful authentic character. Each bead is unique.
Baltic amber was a highly valued trade material in North Africa and was incorporated into traditional Moroccan jewellery, where large amber beads were particularly prized.
The beads show natural signs of age and use, including surface wear, small irregularities and variations in colour.
