Noh Mask: Chujo (Middle General)
This is a male Noh mask used to represent the spirits of nobles and samurai warriors from the Heian period. Its name originates from "Zaigo Chujo," an alternative name for the poet Ariwara no Narihira, a symbol of handsomeness.
It features a vertical wrinkle between the eyebrows, expressing both nobility and a touch of melancholy.
It is primarily used in plays such as "Kiyotsune" and "Tadanori," representing young noblemen of the Taira clan, and "Oshio" and "Toru," representing courtiers. It is especially indispensable for expressing the sorrow and grief of samurai warriors who met a tragic end.
There are no noticeable scratches or stains, and the condition is good.
