It's one of Thailand's greatest literary works, a masterpiece by Phra Sunthornwohan, or Sunthorn Phu, the renowned poet of the Rattanakosin era.
The image depicts the movement of brave soldiers through "Koh Kaeo Phisadan" (the wondrous island) where they hear a mournful wail echoing throughout the area.
The soldiers investigate the source of the sound and are "shocked" by what they see:
"Nang Phi Suea Samut" (the sea nymph).
Her eyes are fierce and stern, her screams filled with tears as she prepares to lose the man she loves most.
