Vintage sterling silver lapel pin in the shape of a shield, hand-painted with the historic coat of arms (escudo) of Puerto Rico. "PUERTO RICO" is lettered across the top in black enamel. The center medallion depicts the Paschal Lamb (Cordero Pascual) resting on the Book of Revelation beneath a small cross-topped banner, set against a green field — a design granted by the Spanish Crown in 1511 and still Puerto Rico's official coat of arms today, making it one of the oldest heraldic emblems still in continuous use in the Americas. Around the medallion runs a border alternating red Jerusalem crosses, gold castles (representing the Kingdom of Castile), and red rampant lions (representing the Kingdom of León). The reverse is stamped STERLING.
