Offered here is a vintage lapel pin from the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), one of the oldest and largest fraternal organizations in America. The round badge is finished in rich cobalt blue enamel and centers on the order's core symbolism: the All-Seeing Eye of Providence at the top, a chain of three linked ovals bearing the letters F, L, and T (standing for Friendship, Love, and Truth, the founding motto of the Odd Fellows), and a skull and crossbones at the base representing mortality, a symbol used within the order's Encampment and Patriarchal degree work. The rim and reverse are done in gold-tone metal, and the pin attaches with the traditional threaded screw-post and securing nut construction common to fraternal jewelry made in the early-to-mid 20th century, well before the modern clutch-back became standard.
