An authentic AEG Mignon Model 4 index typewriter manufactured in Germany during the 1920s.
Unlike conventional keyboard typewriters, the Mignon uses an ingenious index-printing system in which characters are selected from an index plate before being printed.
This example features an original Cyrillic character index, making it considerably less common than the standard Latin versions and highly appealing to collectors of antique office equipment, early writing machines and German industrial design.
The machine retains numerous original components, including the index cylinder, carriage assembly and metal housing. It also bears the D.R.G.M. (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster) marking, identifying a registered German industrial design.
An outstanding display piece for a study, library, museum collection, film production, photography studio or period interior.
