This old Ethiopian sculpture is hand carved from wood and presents two male portrait figures arranged vertically in a distinctive stacked composition.

Each figure has individually carved facial features, stylised hair and beard, angular shoulders and a darkened surface contrasted by warm exposed wood. Coiled silver-coloured wire around both necks adds further texture and visual interest.

Standing approximately 18 inches tall, it has a commanding presence and displays beautifully as a freestanding piece of Ethiopian folk and ethnographic art.
