These exceptional, fine and impressive antique cufflinks have been crafted in 18K Yellow Gold.
Each oval link is embellished with a shakudo* panel, incorporating an oriental foliate motif*.
The sides and reverse of the links are plain and unembellished.
The links and articulate via a three-link chain to the reverse; the links are hallmarked with the 18 carat gold mark (18).

* Shakudō is a traditional Japanese alloy composed primarily of copper with a small proportion of gold. This distinctive patina, combined with the alloy's durability and subtle colour contrast, made shakudō a highly valued material in Japanese decorative metalwork.
** These floral and foliate designs reflect three of those seen within Chinese art, known as the Four Gentlemen. They represent the development of the seasons through the year: orchid - spring (春 / chun), bamboo - summer (夏 / xia), chrysanthemum - autumn (秋 / qiu) and plum blossom - winter (冬 / dong).
