I have here for sale a book entitled LIVES OF THE LORDS STRANGFORD, With Their Ancestors and Contemporaries through Ten Generations by EDWARD BARRINGTON DE FONBLANQUE published by Cassell Petter & Galpin, London, Paris & New York, in 1877.  First edition.  Here we have the history of the Smythe family, and a chapter on the English diplomat Endymion Porter.  Chapters include Customer Smythe and his Descendants 1552-1635; Endymion Porter 1586-1649; Four Generations of Strangfords 1634-1802; Percy Clinton, Sixth Viscount Strangford 1801-1855; George Frederick Augustus Percy Sidney Smythe, Seventh Viscount Stranford 1818-1857; and Percy Ellen Algernon Frederick William Sidney Smythe, Eight and Last Viscount Strangford 1825-1869.


Brown cloth boards with black blind stamped lines, gilt lettering and gilt coat of arms on the front board.  Water damage on rear board.  Gilt lettering on the spine with bumping to top and bottom.  Black endpapers.  Slight yellowing to borders of pages and light pencil annotation to a few pages.  Front hinge partially cracked but all pages are firm and the book is in very good condition.  viii, 298 pages, plus publisher's catalogue 8 pages.  23 x 15.5 cm.
