Vintage Astatic JT-30 Bullet Crystal Microphone w/ Desk Stand & 5' Cord — Untested
Up for sale is a vintage Astatic JT-30 bullet-style crystal microphone made by The Astatic Corp. of Conneaut, Ohio, USA. The JT-30 is one of Astatic’s most recognizable vintage microphone designs and later became especially popular with blues harmonica players because of its compact bullet-style body, easy hand-cupping shape, and classic vintage tone when paired with the right amplifier.
This example includes the microphone, desk stand, and an approximately 5-foot cord with 1/4" plug.
The mic has the classic rounded bullet shell with chrome front grille, gray metal body, black stand neck, and weighted desk base. The Astatic badge is still present and reads Model JT-30.
Condition:
This microphone is UNTESTED and is being sold as-is. I do not know if the crystal element is working, weak, or non-working. Vintage crystal microphones can vary greatly in output, so please purchase with that in mind.
Cosmetically, it displays very well for its age. The chrome grille has a nice shine. The gray body has normal vintage surface wear/patina. The black stand neck shows paint wear, scuffs, and small chips. The base has age-related wear and spotting. The cord is included and measures approximately 5 feet, but has not been tested.
Great piece for a vintage microphone collector, blues harmonica player, studio display, restoration project, or mid-century audio collection.
