Vintage Catalin Bakelite Poker Chip Carousel with Original Trophy Plaque
SEA 3rd Place • S. Black • 1955–56 • Vancouver, British Columbia
An exceptional vintage Catalin poker chip carousel dating to the mid-1950s, complete with its original engraved brass presentation plaque and period engraving shop label from Vancouver, British Columbia.
This example features beautiful translucent olive-green marbled Catalin that has been professionally tested with Simichrome polish, producing the immediate yellow reaction characteristic of genuine Catalin phenolic resin. The Catalin displays dramatic marbling and natural aging, making it especially attractive to collectors.
The original engraved plaque reads:
SEA – 3RD
S. Black
1955–56
The underside retains its original workshop label:
Percy Tutte Engraving Systems
319 W. Pender Street
Vancouver, B.C.
This original retailer/engraver label helps date the presentation to the mid-1950s and provides excellent provenance.
The carousel remains complete with its original polished metal handle, wooden base, Catalin body, vintage poker chips, and original hardware. The original flat-head mounting screw is still present.

Collector Notes
Original Catalin poker accessories from the 1940s–1950s are becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly examples retaining their original presentation plaque and documented provenance. Similar Catalin poker caddies are actively collected for their Art Deco styling, marbled Catalin construction, and association with mid-century gaming accessories.
