SWITZERLAND 1933 MULTIPLE ISSUES ON TOURIST CONGRESS SPECIAL FLIGHT COVER LA CHAUX-DE-FONDS TO ZURICH

1933 (Mar. 30), commercial pioneer airmail cover from La Chaux-de-Fonds to Zurich, franked with mixed commemorative and definitive issues. The face of the envelope in 70.jpg is franked with a 1932 20c red Disarmament Conference issue, a 10c green William Tell bust definitive, an inverted 10c green Landscape definitive, and a pair from the 1932 Pro Juventute semi-postal set (5c green and 30c blue featuring Eugen Huber). All adhesives are cleanly tied by three matching strikes of a red circular aviation dispatch postmark inscribed "LA CHAUX-DE-FONDS / POSTE AÉRIENNE" ['30.III.33.-9 / IV']. The face features a manuscript route directive reading "Vol spécial du Tourisme Chx de Fonds - Zurich", a black circular aviation transit dater reading "ZÜRICH 1 / LUFTPOST" ['30.III.33.•14 / VIII'], and a purple pictorial event cachet inscribed "Kongress für Touristik und Verkehr / Zürich 30.III.-2.IV. 1933" underlaid by a Swiss cross containing an airplane, train, automobile, and steamboat. It is manuscript-addressed to Monsieur J. Clavel in Geneva. The envelope is fully intact and remains in clean commercial condition.

This domestic special flight cover documents the opening day of the Congress for Tourism and Traffic held in Zurich in the spring of 1933. Dispatched via a specialized regional flight from the watchmaking center of La Chaux-de-Fonds, the letter was flown directly to the Zurich-Dübendorf hub to connect with standard federal postal lines. The combined 75c total franking—arranged with five distinct stamps from four separate contemporary series—perfectly satisfies the multi-tier domestic letter rate and specialized congress flight supplements. The prominent multi-modal transport graphics on the official cachet provide a clear historical record of Switzerland's interwar efforts to coordinate its national hospitality and transit infrastructure.

Please examine lot scan carefully and please send any questions at least 48 hours before the auction closes.
