Hi! You're looking at a SUPERB and UNREAD condition book which is a classic account of the Great Feuds of Kentucky written by HAROLD WILSON COATES--the book is a 1942 HARDCOVER with no dustjacket. This book is in SUPERB and UNREAD condition and has some slight age spots on the spine edge and back cover, slight sunning (fading) on the spine edge and a few slight scuffs on the dark blue-tinted upper page edge and NO other significant imperfections! The book is titled Stories of Kentucky Feuds and it was written by HAROLD WILSON COATES; it was published by Holmes-Darst Coal Corporation in 1942.
Based on actual court records. The Author, Harold Wilson Coates, went to the Court records of that day, and read the testimony as well as published items in the newspapers of the same time and period; and from these, and from one or two other sources unknown to us, he wrote these fascinating true stories. These are the accounts of twelve notable family feuds/wars of Kentucky during the 1880's and 1890's. The book is also Illustrated with drawings. Fueds include: Ed Callahan, political power and former sheriff of Breathitt / Underwood War which started in Carter County / Handsomest Man in Lincoln County, Kentucky / John B Marcum and the Overlords of Breathitt / Murder of Jason Little's wife / Walker-Smoot feud in Owens and Henry counties / Great truce of Clay-The Bakers, Whites, Garrards and Howards / Tollier-Martin feud in Rowen county / Tragedy in Kentucky State Capitol, etc. Also included is the infamous Hatfield and McCoy Feud.
