For sale is a vintage 1970s Omega Seamaster automatic, reference 166.0216, with Cal. 1020 day/date movement. This is a collectible piece from the Seamaster line with the popular 1020 caliber. Despite its age, this watch is quite modern with day/date, hacking, and a simple clean design, while still retaining strong retro charm with its integrated bracelet style, thick lugs, and elongated case.

The watch is in full original condition aside from the bracelet (clasp is original). The 36 mm case wears a bit larger due to its elongated shape and fits modern watch sizing standards well — it should look great on most wrists. The silver sunburst dial is in really good condition and still shows clearly, with no repainting or retouching. There is a minor brown hue of patina along the edges but this is only noticeable on very close inspection. The acrylic crystal has held up well with few obvious scratches. The case is in nice shape with some scratches but nothing too major.

The movement is in good shape for the age and everything is working well. Quick-set date works and the day is changed by moving the time backwards as standard for the movement. After a day the watch gained around 2 minutes — decently accurate for the age and I’m sure it could be made better with a thorough service if desired. The gaskets are broken so if you intend to use it around water it would be prudent to add new ones.

This is a great watch for vintage Omega collectors or those who simply want a simple, stylish, retro watch from a luxury Swiss brand at a great price. Ready to wear right out of the box!

While the watch is currently working as intended, due to its age, I cannot guarantee that it will continue working. This watch is sold as-is and may require a service, as many vintage automatic watches do. Refer to the photos and video to judge the watch's condition.
